Privacy Policy
This Privacy Policy explains what information Muffler collects, how Muffler uses it, when it is shared with service providers, how long it may be retained, and what choices you have.
1. Who We Are
Muffler is operated by FUNGEE LLC. You can contact Muffler at owner@fungee.llc.
2. What Muffler Does
Muffler is a browser extension and companion website for filtering content on X. Muffler lets you create filters in plain English, blur matched posts in place, review history, give feedback, and manage credits and entitlements.
Muffler does not rely on a local-only model. Content that needs evaluation is sent to Muffler's backend and, where needed, to AI evaluation providers acting on Muffler's behalf.
3. Information Muffler Collects
Muffler may collect and store the following categories of information:
- Account identifiers, including anonymous account identifiers created before sign-in and attached Google or Apple identity information if you later link an identity.
- Your filters, filter versions, settings, feedback, entitlements, credit balance, and account state.
- Content submitted for evaluation, including visible text, quoted text, embedded text, metadata, and eligible images needed to evaluate your filters.
- History and decision records, including URLs, snippets, matched filters, timestamps, rationale, and confidence or match-source metadata.
- Billing and commerce metadata, such as purchased SKU, payment status, and provider transaction references. Muffler does not store full payment card numbers.
- Technical and telemetry information, such as IP address, approximate device and browser information, request identifiers, error logs, usage events, and timestamps.
- Optional observability or trace data for AI requests and responses if Muffler enables a separate trace sink for debugging, reliability, or audit purposes.
4. How Muffler Uses Information
- To provide, maintain, and improve Muffler.
- To evaluate content against your active filters and return filtering decisions.
- To sync your filters, history, credits, entitlements, and other account state across supported Muffler surfaces.
- To process purchases, grant credits or plan entitlements, detect abuse, and enforce limits.
- To provide support, investigate bugs, recover accounts, and respond to lawful requests.
- To measure product usage, understand conversion and retention, and improve onboarding and product quality using limited telemetry.
5. Service Providers and Sharing
Muffler may share information with service providers that help operate the product, including providers for hosting, authentication, storage, AI evaluation, billing, email, and analytics.
- Infrastructure and authentication providers that host Muffler services, store account state, and manage sessions.
- AI providers that evaluate content or help refine filters on Muffler's instructions.
- Billing providers such as Stripe for purchase processing and payment reconciliation.
- Analytics or telemetry providers for limited product-usage measurement and debugging.
- Professional advisers, regulators, or law enforcement when required by law or reasonably necessary to protect Muffler, users, or the public.
- A buyer, investor, or successor in connection with a merger, financing, acquisition, reorganization, or sale of assets.
Muffler does not sell personal data.
6. Product Data, Analytics, and Trace Separation
Muffler treats product-state data, analytics data, and observability or trace data as different categories.
- Product-state data includes filters, history, credits, entitlements, and account settings. This is the data Muffler uses as the operational source of truth.
- Analytics and telemetry are used for product measurement and debugging. Muffler does not intend to send raw feed text, snippets, image URLs, internal filter instructions, or AI prompts and completions to analytics tools.
- Observability or trace systems, if enabled, may store richer AI request and response payloads for debugging, reliability, or audit purposes. Those systems are separate from Muffler's product-state storage.
7. Cookies, Local Storage, and Extension Storage
Muffler may use cookies, local storage, browser extension storage, or similar technologies for session continuity, security, preference storage, onboarding acknowledgment, and limited telemetry.
8. Retention
Muffler keeps information for as long as reasonably necessary to operate the service, provide support, prevent abuse, comply with legal obligations, resolve disputes, and enforce agreements. Retention periods may differ by data type.
- Account, filter, history, feedback, entitlement, and billing records may be retained for service continuity, legal compliance, fraud prevention, and dispute resolution.
- Temporary staged media used for evaluation is intended to be ephemeral by default and may be deleted after its useful evaluation window.
- Analytics logs and observability traces may have different retention periods from core product-state data.
9. Your Choices and Rights
- You can start using Muffler without signing in. Muffler may still provision an anonymous backend account so your filters, history, and credits can persist.
- You may later attach a Google or Apple identity for billing and account recovery.
- You may request account access, export, or deletion by contacting Muffler at the address above.
- Depending on where you live, you may have additional privacy rights under applicable law. Muffler will review and respond to valid requests as required.
10. Children
Muffler is not intended for children under 13. If Muffler learns it collected personal information from a child under 13 without appropriate permission, Muffler will take reasonable steps to delete that information.
11. International and Cross-Border Processing
Depending on the providers Muffler uses, information may be processed in countries other than the one where you live. Muffler uses service providers and operational safeguards appropriate for an internet-based product.
12. Changes to This Policy
Muffler may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. If Muffler makes a material change, Muffler may update the version shown on this page, revise the last-updated date, and ask you to acknowledge the new version where appropriate. The related Terms version currently referenced by Muffler is terms-v1.
